HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 41

Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge number 50-44-5.61,
located in Dunlow, West Virginia, the "Charley Meddings
Memorial Bridge".
Whereas, Charley Meddings of Dunlow, West Virginia, was born
May 4, 1930, the son of John James Meddings and Ora Jarrells
Meddings; and
Whereas, Charley Meddings was a retired foreman of the
Department of Public Highways with eighteen years of service; and
Whereas, Charley Meddings was a pastor of Fairmont Baptist
Church and a moderator for the New Zion Association; and
Whereas, Charley Meddings was actively involved in the
community, serving the elderly and victims of fire, flood and
injury; and
Whereas, It is fitting, to honor the memory of Charley
Meddings, by naming bridge number 50-44-5.61, located in Dunlow,
West Virginia, the "Charley Meddings Memorial Bridge"; therefore,
be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
name bridge number 50-44-5.61, located in Dunlow, West Virginia,
the "Charley Meddings Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby
requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge
as the "Charley Meddings Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the
Department of Transportation and the family of Charley Meddings.
